Commuting from Marin to SF for work

Hi Moms,

For those of you who are working in SF and living in San Rafael, I'm wondering how you commute. Do you drive? take the bus or the ferry?

My husband and I have been looking for a home in Marin, and we've been trying to find something in southern marin, but aren't having much luck. We may be moving to central San Rafael area.

My question is how long do you commute each day? Is it under an hour, an hour, or more? I'm really nervous to go from commuting 40 minutes each way to 1+ hour each way.

Thanks in advance for any insights!!

Not so bad

I'm not sure where you're going in the city, but it's not so bad from San Rafael. Traffic has gotten a lot busier lately (not sure what exactly that's all about), but you should be able to make it into SF in 40 minutes if you drive.

I'm up in the wilds of Novato and I can get to work in the Richmond district door-to-door in between 40 minutes to an hour, depending on traffic.

I've also taken both the bus and ferry into the city, especially when I worked downtown. That takes longer with time spend waiting/walking, etc., but overall it's a much more pleasant way to get to work if it's convenient for you. The ferry is especially nice (and there's a bar on board, too).
