Free Summer Outdoor Concerts in Marin 2024

One of my favorite things about summer in Marin are the free outdoor concerts that take place throughout the county. There's something about the warm weather and the long days that make events like these really special.

Pack a picnic and your folding chairs and check out a free summer concert near you. Here's our list of events taking place this summer. If we've missed your favorite, please let us know.

Corte Madera Free Concerts

• Summer Sunday Concerts at Piccolo Pavilion
  Old Corte Madera Square
  Sundays, 5–6:30 pm, June 9–August 25
  Bring the family to the free outdoor summer concerts at the Old Corte Madera Square. Bring lawn chairs, a blanket and a picnic and enjoy the amazing 2024 line-up of fine local bands including the Coffis Brothers, Zydeco Flames, Bubba's Taxi, Danny Click, and the Corte Madera Town Band. More info

Fairfax Free Concerts

• Summer Concert Series
  Peri Park
  Sunday, June 2 & July 28, Saturday, August 3
  Curated by Artist in Residence Susan Pascal Beran, the Fairfax summer concert music series features Lyndsey Everly, Gary Muszynski & Friends, and Mads Tolling peforming inPeri Park under the redwoods.

Mill Valley Free Concerts

• Creekside Fridays
  Tam Valley Community Center
  Fridays, June 14, June 28, July 12 & 26, August 9
  Free concerts take place 6–8 pm; doors open at 5:30 pm. Make sure to bring a picnic. Location: Tam Valley Community Center, 203 Marin Avenue, Mill Valley. More info

• Concerts on the Plaza
  The Depot Plaza, Downtown Mill Valley
  Saturday & Sundays, September 7 & 8, 11 am–7 pm
  Mill Valley's Concerts on the Plaza series present fantastic acts from the Bay Area and beyond in their annual outdoor summer series. Location: The Depot Plaza, 87 Throckmorton Avenue, Mill Valley. More info.

Novato Free Concerts

  Novato City Green
  Saturday, June 7 & 21, July 19, August 2 & 16, 6–8 pm
  Novato's free summer concert series takes place on Novato City Green, 901 Sherman Avenue (adjacent to Novato City Hall). Enjoy the amazing 2024 line-up of fine local bands including the Matt Jaffe (Original Indie Rock), Sol Horizon (Reggae with Rock, Funk, and World Beats), Alex Lucero Band (Americana Soul), and Ideateam (Funk, Soul & R&B). More info

  Downtown Novato

  Kick off summer with this street party in downtown Novato. More info

• Hot Amphitheater Nights
  Hamilton Amphitheater
  Saturday, June 29, July 27 & August 31, 5–7 pm
  Join Novato Parks, Recreation & Community Services for their 2024 Hot Amphitheater Nights series on select Saturdays. More info

San Anselmo Free Concerts

• Live on the Avenue

  Fridays & Saturdays July 5–September 28
  Live music returns to San Anselmo's Creek Park as part of Live on the Avenue, Fridays and Saturdays beginning July 5, 2024. More info.

San Rafael Concerts

• Music in the Park
  Marinwood Community Center
  Fridays, June 28, July 12, August 9 & 23, 6–8 pm
  Live music, food and fun the whole family will enjoy. Each concert will feature high quality music from some of the Bay Area's top rock, bluegrass and folk artists, delicious BBQ by Marinwood Market and a bar for adults. Don't forget the picnic blanket! More info.
   

Sausalito Free Concerts

  The City of Sausalito Park and Recreation Department presents Jazz and Blues by the Bay in Gabrielson Park. The entire lawn will be available for lawn seating so bring a (low) chair, some friends and come enjoy the music!! The 2024 lineup includes Maria Muldaur and her Red Hot Bluesiana Band, West Coast All Stars, the King Street Giants, and Bautista. More info.

Tiburon & Belvedere Free Concerts

  Belvedere's free concerts in the park return for their 27th season. The 2024 lineup features You Should Be Dancing (Bee Gees cover), I Ko YaYa (New Orleans flavored dance music), Midnight Flyer (Eagles tribute), and Dave Martin's House Party. More info

San Francisco Free Concerts

• Stern Grove Festival
  Sigmund Stern Grove, San Francisco
  Sundays, June 23–August 25, 2 pm
  This popular, admission-free concert series in a beautiful outdoor amphitheater is still totally free but advance reservations are required. Enjoy performances by Tegan and Sara, Chicano Batman, the Commodores, Herbie Hancock, Lucinda Williams, and more! The season culminates with the new two-day Big Picnic fundraiser, featuring Sylvan Esso, Poolside, and Chaka Khan, on August 24 and 25. More info

• Golden Gate Bandshell Concerts
  Golden Gate Park, San Francisco
  Wednesdays, Fridays & Sundays
  The Illuminate LIVE concert series at the historic Golden Gate Bandshell in Golden Gate Park takes place from March through November and features a variety of artists. All-ages concerts feature R&B, soul, jazz, funk, big band musicians, string ensembles, indie and psychedelic rock bands, singer-songwriters, reggae, salsa, and more. More info
