Help Advokids Support Foster Children

Marin Mommies presents a sponsored article from Advokids in Corte Madera.
Tabatha Yin Kallman is a Marin mommy who takes care of more than just her own two children. She is driven with maternal passion to care for every possible child in the entire state of California that she can reach through her work as a staff attorney with Advokids. A statewide legal advocacy nonprofit based in Corte Madera, Advokids fights for the right of every foster child in California to safety, security, and a permanent home.
Tabatha knows that children are one of the most vulnerable members of our society. There are more than 55,000 children in foster care in California. One third of these children are under 5 years old. More than half are in care for 2 plus years and many experience compounding trauma and multiple placements.
“I knew that I wanted to make a difference in the world, and when I moved to Marin while pregnant with my first child in 2011, I learned about Advokids from a friend,” said Tabatha. “I wanted to do something particularly meaningful with the time my children were in school. I started volunteering on Advokids’ Hotline when my youngest was in preschool. It is our focus on little ones under age 5 that means so much to me. I know my kids have gone through these same tender ages and stages. These developmental milestones are so key in the early years and their brains are developing so quickly,”said Tabatha.
Advokids fights to protect the physical, emotional and developmental health of children in foster care. The Advokids free hotline is a legal lifeline and touches every part of the state of California.
