Marin Symphony's Family Concert Offers Great Music for All Ages!
Whether this is your first orchestral experience or you're a concert hall veteran, the Marin Symphony Family Concert has something for you! This fun family musical event takes place at the Marin Veterans' Memorial Auditorium in San Rafael on Sunday, March 24, 2019, at 3 pm, and includes musical gems like Britten's A Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra, Mozart's Flute Concerto No. 2, Smetana's The Moldau, and Rossini's William Tell Overture, as well as the ever-popular Instrument Petting Zoo.
Directed by maestro Alasdair Neale, the family concert program features members of the Marin Symphony Youth Orchestra performing alongside Marin Symphony professionals; flute soloist Maya Stock, winner of the Marin Symphony Youth Orchestra Concerto Competition; and Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra narration by KALW radio personality David Latulippe.
Following the Family Concert, Marin Symphony Youth Orchestra musicians assist aspiring young artists at the traditional Instrument Petting Zoo where children are encouraged to try out an instrument on their own. Also, make sure you arrive early to hear MSYO musicians playing chamber music in the lobbies.
If you haven’t been to one of the Marin Symphony’s Family Concerts yet, you really owe it to yourself to check one out. We've attended them and had a great time, and the Instrument Petting Zoo is a wonderful bonus that the kids really enjoyed.
Reserved-seating tickets start at $20 for adults and $15 for youth 17 and under, but you can get a 30% discount on all tickets with code MSYOFRIENDS!
