Mill Valley Nursery School
Mill Valley Nursery School (MVNS) is a warm, play-based preschool and the only parent participation school in Mill Valley, serving children ages 2.5–5. Established in 1957, this nonprofit cooperative has been a beloved part of the community for generations.
Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, MVNS fosters curiosity, creativity, and confidence through hands-on, child-led learning. The program is play-based and emergent, meaning the curriculum grows from children’s interests—encouraging exploration, problem-solving, and a lifelong love of learning.
What makes MVNS truly special is its parent participation model. Families are actively involved in the classroom and school community, creating strong connections between children, parents, and teachers. Many families describe MVNS as not just a preschool, but a supportive community where lasting friendships are formed.
