Music Review: Grammie's Greatest Hits

Grammie' Greatest Hits CDWhen it comes to music for small children, sometimes it's refreshing to listen to good old fashioned kids' tunes, the kind that have stood the test of time and remained popular for generations. Not that we don't love some of the edgier, more hip kids' musicians out there, but there are only so many alt-rock style song about cleaning your room that a parent can take. We were pretty happy to get our hands on a review copy of Grammie's Greatest Hits, a CD of classic children's songs performed by a real-life grandmother (Renee Longstreet, the "Grammie" of the CD title) and produced and recorded here in Marin by local producer/songwriter Ken Adams.

Songs on the CD include classics familiar to adults and children alike. Tracks include Froggy Went A-Courtin', Little Bunny Foo Foo, The Wheels on the Bus, and There's a Hole in the Bucket. Grammie's Greatest Hits has become the new favorite of my three-year-old daughter, who sings along with the songs, most of which see seems to know the words to already. An added bonus to Grammie's Greatest Hits is the inclusion of Grammie's Busy Pages, a set of coloring pages, stickers, and a matching game. All are packaged in a paper slipcover/case with delightful illiustrations.

Overall, it's well performed and recorded and a lot of fun for everyone in the family. If you order the CD you can make it extra special by customizing it with a picture of your child in the main window of the treehouse on the cover!
