The Story of the Nutcracker

This event is expired.
This December, a brand new children's performance of the Nutcracker ballet is coming to Marin titled, "The Story of the Nutcracker". Sara Whittles of Miss Sara's Ballet School in Ross wrote and choreographed a lively one-hour version of the famous holiday story featuring 67 young dancers ages four to ten. To capture the imaginations and attention of young children, Whittles conceived of a ballet told as if a storybook is opened and the characters come to life right before your eyes. A narrator on stage will read the story of Clara and her adventures with the Nutcracker Prince as the young dancers perform in front of four beautifully crafted backdrops resembling illustrations from the storybook. Whittles is passionate about providing her young dancers with positive, meaningful dance opportunities where they learn the value of hard work and the thrill of live performance. After many years of teaching ballet, Whittles philosophy is to put on the best performance possible where everyone has fun, even a stray dancing butterfly. Come and enjoy this brand new addition to Marin County's holiday calendar and this delightfully playful version of everyone's favorite Christmas ballet. Miss Sara's, "The Story of the Nutcracker" will be performed on December 21 at 11 am and 2 pm at the Marin Civic Center.
