Work in the Garden for Family Volunteer Day

This event is expired.
Join your family for a day of volunteering in the gardens at New Beginnings Center, an 80-bed homeless shelter operated in Novato by Homeward Bound of Marin.
The project marks Family Volunteer Day and celebrates the close of National Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week.
Volunteers will prepare the soil, spread mulch, plant and dig in compost in the 26-row produce garden, which provides fruit and vegetables for shelter residents as well as the on-site Fresh Starts Culinary Academy.
Everyone is welcome; children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult chaperone. Please bring gloves, hat and sunscreen.
To volunteer, please contact Volunteer Coordinator Andrea Rey by email at arey@hbofm.org or call 415-382-3363 x212.
New Beginnings Center opened in 2000 as the first homeless shelter in the nation to be built on a decommissioned military base. It is part of a continuum of care provided by Homeward Bound of Marin, the county’s chief provider of residential and support services for homeless families and individuals.
