My 5.5 year old really wants to get her ears pierced. Her cousin just did it and now the idea is planted. I don't really have any major objections to letting her do it now, only that I want to make sure she really wants to do it and understands what is involved. I took her to Claires at Northgate Mall just to talk to someone and see the equipment used and she barely paid any attention... she was too busy eying the peace sign earrings hanging nearby... One thing I took away from that experience is that it seems very expensive to get ears pierced there ($45-$55), especially since no one there seems to have any formal training in skin care.

Does anyone have any recommendations of places we could get her ears pierced that is A) less expensive and B) a little more reassuring for mama?

We live in Sausalito, so would love to find something close by as well.
