Hi Mommas. I just wanted to get the word out about a wonderful postpartum doula my husband and I hired for the 8 weeks following the birth of our baby girl. If you are expecting and worried about getting enough sleep in the first few months, please call her! She was absolutely amazing with our baby girl. She is so warm and nurturing, and our daughter was completely at ease with her. She was with us only 2-3 days/week but when she was here, I slept really well, which as you may know, is sort of unheard of when you have a newborn! After breastfeeding was well established I had Carmel give our daughter a bottle for one of her nightly feedings and I would just sleep! You could even have her do all of the feedings at night but I had trouble with getting engorged and painful around 4-5 in the morning so had to get up anyway. Also, as brand new parents, my husband and I were always nervous about whether we were doing this or that the right way and wondering what was normal with a newborn and Carmel's experience and expertise always set our minds at ease. She is extremely knowledgeable and she would even go out and get things for me that she thought I might need on her days off. When she was with us, she would even folds our laundry and do our dishes if there were any to do. She offered to wash our laundry too but we share a washing machine and dryer with our downstairs neighbors so that wasn't possible for us. I was very sad when she left, but our daughter is sleeping so well, it just didn't make sense for us to keep her longer. I will forever be grateful for her help. I want to add that having a baby was much more emotionally challenging than I ever thought it would be and simply having the company and reassurance of such a warm and nurturing woman during those lonely nights made those first few weeks much more bearable. We are hoping to have a second baby at some point in the not too distant future and I know now that I will be calling Carmel as soon as I see those two little pink lines! So be assured that you and your baby will be in good, loving hands with Carmel!
