Old Firehouse School – Bayview: A Nature and Wildlife-Inspired Preschool

At OFS Bayview, children explore and interact with their natural surroundings through hands-on activities and experiential learning. Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, our curriculum is guided by children's interests and encourages inquiry, creativity, collaboration, and meaningful exploration. We view the environment as an extension of the classroom, where nature becomes a rich source of discovery and learning.

Our program is also deeply rooted in attachment theory, recognizing that secure, trusting relationships with caring teachers provide the foundation for children's confidence, emotional well-being, and lifelong love of learning. By creating a warm, responsive, and nurturing environment, we help children feel safe to explore, take risks, and develop meaningful connections with both people and the world around them.

This combination of nature-based education, relationship-centered care, and child-led learning enhances children's cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development while fostering curiosity, resilience, and a deep appreciation for the natural world. Through daily experiences in nature and environmental education, OFS Bayview inspires children to become compassionate, confident, and environmentally conscious individuals prepared to thrive in an ever-changing world.

Children may attend 2, 3, 4, or 5 days a week. Full-time and part-time schedules are available.

Priority is given to families needing full-day care. Currently accepting applications for the upcoming school year.
