Old Firehouse School Now Enrolling in San Rafael

Founded in 1996, Old Firehouse School is a Reggio Emilia-Inspired preschool with 4 locations around the Bay Area, two of which are right here in Marin! Their newest campus located at 1510 5th Avenue, San Rafael, is a Spanish-English Dual Immersion program, accepting children ages 12 months-3 years of age. Old Firehouse school’s San Rafael campus is currently accepting applications now for the Fall 22/23 school year and have a few spots left in each classroom.

In addition to keeping with the traditional Reggio-Emilia practices, Old Firehouse School’s program is based on a solid foundation of scientific research in the field of attachment theory and child development. Striving for the continuity of care through a curriculum based on a primary caregiving model, Old Firehouse School aims to keep children with the same teacher in one cohort throughout their entire preschool career. This enables them to build a strong foundation of trust, in addition to solid social/emotional skills which they’ll carry for the rest of their lives. At OFS, the educators believe in the notion that learning takes place when children are busy ‘doing’ not ‘watching’ or just ‘listening’.

Old Firehouse School adheres to stringent COVID practices, equipping each classroom with HEPA air filters, requiring staff be masked at all times, and instituting an effective illness policy and alert system, helping to mitigate the spread of illness.
