Bright Horizons at Marin Commons

We opened our doors to serve children and families in September 2009. In each classroom, from Infants to Pre-K, our highly skilled teachers provide the environment and experiences from which children learn and grow. The first few years of life are an extraordinary time that sets the stage for the all the years that follow. Our program for learning, The World at Their Fingertips, creates developmentally appropriate educational environments that empower children to be confident, successful, lifelong learners.

very professional, great hours

I know my baby is safe and well cared for at Bright Horizons. The staff engage them in age-appropriate activities every day and have clear and explicit protocols for care. Each child has their own color, and this color shows up as part of the label on the baby's crib, bottles, cubby, and on a background for their picture, posted in the room with the day's sheet. I like this double reinforcement, along with their bottle protocols, that ensure babies get the right bottle.

The ratio is 1:4 in the infant rooms, but there are often additional floater teachers there to help out during busy times. The rooms are cozy and nicely furnished at all levels, as the facility is new (Community Playthings maple tables and chairs throughout).

The cost is higher than many other daycare centers in the area, but less than a nannyshare and because Bright Horizons is a national organization geared toward supporting working parents, they take off very few holidays - fewer than any other daycare (in-home or otherwise) I considered. This is an important feature for working couples or single parents.

great for infants!

When we set out to find a daycare for our then 5 month old baby, we didnt realize just how hard it would be. We knew we wanted a daycare as opposed to a nanny (mainly because we didnt feel comfortable with leaving her at home with someone we didnt know). We visited MANY daycares in Marin but never truly felt comfortable until visiting Bright Horizons at Marin Commons. It is definitely one of the most expensive places we visited but well worth it in our opinion. The facility is sooo clean (sanitized toys, separate cribs for each child, etc), organized & just feels safe. Our daughter is now 11 months old and loves going to daycare. She knows the other kids in her room well and is comfortable with all the teachers there.
