Wonderful, unique preschool experience!

My son has been attending Novato Parents Nursery School for the past three years, and we love it! He started in the toddler program and continued on to the preschool. The school has had new directors for the past year-and-a-half, who are excellent and committed and have led the school in positive new directions. The teachers are wonderful, experienced educators, who are dedicated to their jobs and to being part of a cooperative preschool. I think that the curriculum is a great mix of play-based, age-appropriate activities, with many opportunities for more academic Kindergarten preparation. The thing I have loved most of all, is the wonderful built-in community of families. We are all involved and care for each other's kids, which is a marvelous thing to experience. My son and I look forward to going to school each day!

So much more than just a great preschool

I really love my son's school. The teachers are superb and you can see and feel how much they care for and connect with each child. All of the parents take turns actively participating in the classroom on their workday and it truly becomes a community raising and educating each other's kids in a loving environment. The parents connect with each other as peers and as friends and provide that much more support to participating families because of the co-op environment. This is far more than just a great preschool for your child; it's a wonderful community and I am lucky to be a part of it.

a great surprise!

Having moved to Marin in the middle of the school year, Ihad the daunting task of finding a preschool for my son. We honestly picked this preschool because they had the room for him and it was conveniently located. The plan was that he would attend this school for the remainder of the year and then he would start another preschool in the fall that followed the philosophy of his previous preschool. Instead what we found was a place that fostered my child's love of learning, his passion for art and a warm and loving community. This school is more than a preschool, it fosters a sense of community and belonging that is rarely found. The parents who send their children here will care for your child in the same way that you would, they comfort the child and encourage the child just as if they were their own. To find a place like this is truly a gift and since it is the parents who run the school, you can really have a hand in what your child does in these early formative years. I would highly recommend this school to anyone!

What a find!

Experienced, well-trained teachers, combined with a community of highly involved, loving parents have made for an excellent start to my daughter's preschool years. Her participation in the Toddler Time program (for children 18 mos. - 2 1/2 yrs.) not only helped her transition effortlessly into the regular preschool program this Fall, but helped strengthen her social skills, as she made friends who later went on to be in her preschool class.

What truly makes NPNS unique however, is the school's dedication to helping teach parents how to guide their own children in gaining a sense of empowerment, self-esteem and independence through its practice of the Positive Discipline philosophy. This practical yet, loving approach has proved to be an invaluable teaching tool, as both a school volunteer and parent.

Last but not least, I can't give enough positive praise for our school's teachers. All 3 teachers currently hold California teaching credentials, and are parents of young children themselves. Needless to say...they get it! I've always found them more than willing to share a laugh, hug, or suggestion, and by being an active volunteer in my child's preschool program, I've probably learned as much from them, if not more than my preschooler! As a former elementary school teacher myself, I whole-heartedly recommend you check this preschool out!"

Wonderful preschool!

I visited many, many preschools when looking for one for my daughter, and was thrilled to find NPNS. Two caring, bright, creative teachers (with current California teaching credentials) who support each child as an individual while introducing them to the larger world of school and learning -- social and otherwise! I am so thankful my child has been able to attend. Without a doubt, it is worth your time to check out NPNS.

a truly special place

After moving to Marin in the middle of a school year and looking at many school we literally stumbled upon NPNS. We gave it a try and now we are back with #2. The teacher/director, community and parents are what makes this school. Being away from my own family it is comforting that I am leaving my child with not only an incredibly talented credentialed teacher but also someone who has had many year preschool experience, children in the NUSD system so she has her pulse on what is necessary to succeed and she is also a mom who has seen it all! The parents are not just people that you wave to in the parking lot or nod at in the grocery store because you recognize them from a birthday party, these families become part of the fabric of your families lives. People that you children will remember forever and whose children will be your children's life long friends.

My sons have both flourished thee academically as well. Because it boasts such a high child to parent ratio (5:1, although many days it can be as much as 2:1) my sons received individual attention and were able to choose the activities that they wanted to work on at choice time and in the end really excelled at reading and math.

Being in the classroom you get to know step by step what your children are participating in and you have a voice in the school.

After co-oping with my sons I am only sorry we are not having any more kids! Truly a special and magical school!
