Experience STEM at the Free North Bay Science Discovery Day

North Bay Science Discovery Day, Santa Rosa

Join local universities, museums, research labs, and other organizations for the free North Bay Science Discovery Day, taking place at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds in Santa Rosa on Saturday, March 7, 2026 from 10 am to 4 pm. This event was created by the Buck Institute for Research on Aging and UC San Francisco, and has been going strong introducing youth to STEM concepts and ideas since 2011.

Discovery Day is a free event for children, teens, and families that will spark curiosity and excitement about science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Take part in STEM storytimes and presentations with scientists, get hands-on with STEM activities at home, meet scientists and learn about their work, learn about local nature and wildlife, meet animals, see live demonstrations and experiments, and more!

Participating local organizations include the Buck Institute for Research on Aging, Kaiser Permanente, UC Berkeley, UC Davis, UCSF, the Charles M. Schulz Museum, Children's Museum of Sonoma County, Sonoma State University, 49ers EDU, Lucasfilm and ILM, Make:, Girl Scouts of Northern California, Civil Air Patrol, the Marine Mammal Center, the Petaluma Wildlife Museum, USGS Earthquake Science Center, WildCare, the Pacific Coast Air Museum, NorCal Bats, 501st Legion — Golden Gate Garrison, and more.

Admission to the festival is free and tickets are not required! Attendees also receive free parking at the fairgrounds. Food trucks will be on site with food available for purchase, but outside food is allowed if you'd like to bring your own lunch and snacks.
