Calling all young makers! Get hands-on while you're staying at home with Family Maker Camp, a free online resource from the people who bring you Maker Faire and Make magazine.

Family Maker Camp encourages young people's curiosity and creativity with a variety of fun and educational STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) projects, many of which you can do with items you might have around the house. Other projects, especially those involving electronics and circuitry, involve supplies like LEDs and wires that can be purchased inexpensively online.

Make and decorate a knight's helmet, create your own "operation" style game, code a game in Scratch, build papercraft toys, and even construct a rideable hovercraft! Some projects are definitely more involved than others and probably need the cooperation of a responsible adult. You can also purchase books and maker kits from their Maker Shed online store.

Got an interesting project that you'd like to share with other families? You can submit it, along with instructions and photos, for inclusion on the site!
