The Lycée in Marin: Rooted in California, Open to the World

International Education in Preschool? What does this look like?
At the Lycée Français de San Francisco, our Preschool (“Maternelle”) provides a gentle and joyful start to your child’s educational journey. Our bilingual program creates a fun and engaging environment where children naturally develop their language skills in both French and English, while making friends and exploring the world that surrounds them.
At the Lycée, we skillfully blend the Californian, child-centered approach to teaching with the rigorous French educational pathway, offering a unique bicultural curriculum that nurtures global citizens. Our program focuses on developing essential building blocks of learning – such as motor skills, social-emotional awareness, language acquisition, and problem-solving – through a mix of guided learning and creative play.
In our “I’m a big kid now” video series, you’ll get a sense of what a day in the life of our youngest students look like. In these short videos, they share their school life experience in the cutest way possible. They tell you what and how they learn, talk about their friends, and invite you to share their lunch, or even their naptime! These clips provide priceless insights into what’s happening in their young minds… and on the playground!
No French? No problem!
The Lycée international journey starts in Preschool, but it does not stop there!
Our International Track program, anchored in the International Baccalaureate (IB) approach, equips students in Middle and High School with transferable, future-ready skills and a dual, internationally recognized diploma.
Unlike our French Track, there is no French language requirement for admission into the International Track. This allows students of all linguistic backgrounds to benefit from the excellence of the Track’s program in a bilingual and multicultural environment. The program is designed to promote a global perspective, preparing students to thrive in international settings.
