Call of the Sea Summer Sailing Camp
San Francisco Bay is considered one of the world's premier spots for sailing, so it's no wonder that families in Marin County have a variety of fun sailing summer camps to choose from. If your child is an aspiring mariner or just wants to explore something new and take advantage of our location on the Bay, then one of these fantastic camps may be just what you're looking for! Note that while these camps generally accept campers with no sailing experience, campers should have basic swimming skills.
Call of the Sea Summer Sailing Camp, Sausalito
At Call of the Sea Summer Sailing Camp, campers age 8 to 12 will participate in a variety of activities including sailing, marine science, and art. Camp includes sailing aboard Call of the Sea's schooner Seaward, safety gear, marine science and craft materials, and snacks. Campers will sail San Francisco Bay, learn about marine life and traditional sailors' skills such as knots, create art, and burn up extra energy with local walks and games. Learn more
Floathouse Intro to Sailing Camp, Petaluma
Campers ages 10–17 at the Floathouse's Intro to Sailing Camp learn all the basics of sailing, right in the downtown Petaluma's turning basin. Campers will use vessels including remote control sailboats, El Toros, a captain’s gig, and a Lido-14. They also offer a small boat summer camp that explores a variety of people-powered watercraft. Maritime Summer Camp, San Francisco
Campers ages 8–12 will dive into hands-on maritime skills while learning to row and sail the fleet of small boats at San Francisco National Maritime Historic Park near Fisherman's Wharf. Activities range from free play on the beach at Aquatic Park to science-based projects that foster stewardship and spark curiosity about our marine environment and the National Park. Learn more
Sailing Education Adventures Sail Camps, San Rafael
Sailing Education Adventures’ (SEA) Sailing Youth Summer Camp is a great way for children ages 8–17 to learn to sail on San Francisco Bay. Camps offer instruction for a variety of skill and experience levels on 12- to 14-foot sailboats as well as lessons on boat safety and seamanship. Sailing Education Adventures Sailing Youth Summer Camp
St. Francis Yacht Club Summer Camps, San Francisco
Week-long City Front Sailing Camps at the San Francisco Marina are open to novice through intermediate level sailors ages 8–17 years. Campers will learn to sail and basic sailing skills like rigging, points of sail, capsizing, tacking and gybing. Boats sailed will be RS Teras, RS Fevas, and Flying Juniors. They also offer a sleep-away camp on the StFYC's private island in the Delta. Learn more
Spaulding Marine Center Summer Sea Camp, Sausalito
Summer Sea Camp combines sailing and woodworking in a unique day camp experience based at the Spaulding Marine Center in Sausalito. Each day, campers aged 10–16 split their time between learning to sail on Pelican sailboats — covering knot tying, navigation, and bay stewardship — and hands-on wood shop projects like building model sailboats and crafting take-home creations. UC Berkeley Sailing Camp, Berkeley
At UC Berkeley Recreation's Sailing Camp, campers will learn and review the essentials of sailing on San Francisco Bay! Novice camps teach the basics of sailing, including rigging, tacking, gybing, capsizing, docking, knots, and safety, while intermediate and advanced camps will build on these skills using Zest and Venture sailboats. Camps take place at the UC Berkeley Marina at the foot of University Avenue. Learn more
