Friday, January 4
Bring in the kids for Confetti Arts Week at the Habitot Children’s Museum in Berkeley. Enjoy storytelling about ringing in the new year on Friday and Saturday, and scoop up the leftover confetti from New Year's Eve celebrations to create polka-dot collages in the Art Studio. Saturday, January 5
This is the last weekend to see Adventures with Clifford the Big Red Dog at the Bay Area Discovery Museum, so come and board the Birdwell Island Ferry and discover Clifford’s world. The exhibit last day is Sunday, January 6, so don’t miss it. The Bay Area Discovery Museum is located at East Fort Baker, 557 McReynolds Road in Sausalito (415) 339-3900. The Children's Theatre Association presents the classic fairytale Jack and the Beanstalk each Saturday (through February 16) at 10:30 am and 1 pm at the Legion of Honor in San Francisco. The performance features humor, songs, delightful costumes, dance routines, and audience participation. For ages 4-9. Museum members $10; Non-members $12. The Bay Area Discovery Museum presents Ballet Lisanga. As part of the Bay Area Discovery Museum’s annual ethnic performance series, World On Stage, Ballet Lisanga presents the African tradition of storytelling. The California Academy of Sciences' temporary facility on Howard Street closes permanently at 5 pm on Sunday. Families are invited to festivities that include lectures, slideshows, and arts-and-crafts. Check the website for more details. The new Academy opens in Golden Gate Park in October, 2008.
