Family-friendly Weekend Events for January 18, 19 & 20
Friday, January 18
Bring the kids (ages 2–5) to Fantastic Fridays: Let’s Go Fly a Kite, this Friday from 10 am to noon, and explore all things that fly from birds to planes to kites. The highlight of the program will be making and flying your own kite. Parents and tots will get the chance to make their own jumping frog. Drop-ins accepted on a space-available basis. January book sale at the Mill Valley Public Library on Saturday from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. There will be more than 18,000 items: gently used books including Craft books, recent fiction and biographies – of course, but also CDs and DVDs, carefully sorted and alphabetized. It’s whale season, so bring the family out to the Point Reyes lighthouse to experience the gray whales. Weekends January through April, weather permitting. Docents at the Lighthouse Observation Deck 11:00 am - 4:30 pm. View gray whales through binoculars and scopes. Volunteer docents available to answer questions about gray whales. PartyKidz LLC, a family dance party with music, refreshments, face painting and more, takes place on Saturday from 1 to 5 pm. The Young Performers Theatre presents Rapunzel. This is a story about a couple and their desire to have a child, and the harsh bargain they make with a witch who takes the child away to an enchanted tower. And, of course, there is a happy outcome when the Prince appears to rescue Rapunzel! Showings are January 19 through February 10 Saturdays at 1 pm and Sundays at 1 and 3:30 pm.
