preschool advice for mom moving to Marin

We are hoping to move to Marin next summer from Brooklyn and will be needing a preschool for my 2 boys.

I am hoping to get them into the same place (they will be 2.6 and 4 yrs) and somewhere that is nurturing and loving. (My eldest has a tendency to be shy.) We are looking at the San Anselmo/ Fairfax area but are as yet not committed to any particular neighborhood. Can you tell me bout the pre-schools your kids are at - what do you love about your kids schools and are there schools that should be avoided?

Also is there a list of preschools and elementary schools with reviews that I can be directed to?

Thanks,
Karen

Preschool search

I’m in the same boat as you with trying to find a preschool for my 2.5 year old daughter in the San Anselmo area. I actually think the best way to go about finding the right preschool is to tour a few of them in the area. Each school is so different that it’s important to find the one that best suits your child. I know that you don’t currently live in the area, so that would be out of the question for now. A few friends of mine have recommended the San Anselmo Co-op Nursery School, which gives you the opportunity to participate in your child’s education, and the San Anselmo Montessori School. They both are a little different in their philosophies, but both have been recommended. If I find out any other recommendations, I’ll send them your way. Good luck!

New Mom to Marin

I have found really good info on schools and preschool age info on www.MarinPreschoolDirectory.com. Also, on Marin.org

Good luck!

College of Marin Children's Center

this is not in the Marin Preschool Directory, but it is a great place. it is on the College of Marin campus and you don't need to be a student for your child to go there. the kids are 2.5-5 and have to be potty trained. the rates are totally resonable and depending on income, you can get discounts since it is stated subsidized since it is at the local jr. college..... i love the place. my 3.5 y.o. son goes there since it was convenient for me last semester while i went to COM....not going to be as convenient in the spring, but i'll still bring him there. good luck with your move and decision!
