Run for the Seals on Saturday, August 15 in the Marin Headlands

Run for the SealsWant to have fun, get some exercise, and support a great cause? Sign up for the Marine Mammal Center's Run for the Seals! This annual 5K run/walk celebrates the Center's 40th anniversary, and supports the Center's programs and rescue work. It's open to participants of all ages, including casual and serious runners, walkers, and families—strollers and on-leash dogs are welcome, too. All proceeds go directly towards the Marin Mammal Center's mission of helping sick, injured, and orphaned marine mammals.

The 2015 Run for the Seals takes place this Saturday, August 15. Check-in starts at 6:30 am, and the races begin at 8:30. Participants can choose from two different route options: a 5K road and dirt trail route hrough the headlands, or a two-mile walk on a scenic route overlooking the ocean. Both routes feature refreshment stations, and the walk/hike route will also include informative education stations along the way.

After, participants are invited to join in on the Family Fun Day, which takes place at the Marine Mammal Center. Enjoy complimentary food, drinks, fun family activities, and tours.

Online registration is currently open. Adult online registration is $45 per person; children 4 and under and dogs are free. All paid online registrants get a free limited edition Run for the Seals T-shirt, a ticket to Aquarium of the Bay at Pier 39, and admission to the Family Fun Day after the race. Even if you can't run, you can donate online and be a "Virtual Runner".

You may also register on race day between 6:30 and 8 am. Race day registration fees are $55 per person (kids 4 and under and dogs are still free). T-shirts are available to paid race-day registrants while supplies last.

Race start is at Rodeo Beach, and there's plenty of free parking throughout the Headlands area. Shuttles will be provided from the outermost parking lots (dogs not allowed on shuttles). Roads will be closed at 8 am sharp to accommodate the race. Access to Bunker Road to Rodeo Beach will be closed from 8 to approximately 10 am. Vehicles will be unable to leave the race area until the 5K is finished at around 10 am. The Marine Mammal Center is located at 2000 Bunker Road in Fort Cronkhite.
