20 Free Things to Do for Families in July

Bring the little ones this summer for Music Time with Megan! at the Bon Air Center, Greenbrae (July 10, 17, 24 & 31).

It's July, and you don't have to break the bank to have a great time with the kiddos! Here are 20 free (or inexpensive) activities and outings in Marin and the Bay Area this month. Keep in mind some of these activities require advance registration, so check before you go.

1. Listen to stories read by a police officer at Mill Valley Library Outdoor Amphitheater, Monday, July 1, 3:30–4:30 pm 
2. Kids 12 and under and seniors 65+ get in free to the Marin County Fair on Wednesday July 3, 11 am–11 pm.
3. Swim and picnic at McNears Beach Park, San Rafael, Wednesdays–Sundays in July, 10–5 pm.
4. Bring the kiddos to the free Silly Circus Show at the San Anselmo Library, Wednesday, July 3, 11–11:45 am.
5. Bay Area residents get free entry to the Bay Area Discovery Museum in Sausalito, Wednesday, July 3, 10 am–4 pm.

7. Free live music in downtown San Anselmo with Live on the Avenue, every Friday & Saturday in July, 5:30–8 pm.
8. See family movies outdoors for free at Marin Country Mart in Larkspur, every Friday, July 5, 12, 19 & 26, 6 pm.
9. Bring the little ones for Mariela’s Music Time an interactive bilingual performance, Tuesday, July 9, 10–11:30 am.
10. Circus of Smiles comes to San Anselmo Library for Wacky Wednesday, July 12, 1–1:30 pm.
11. Bring a picnic and enjoy live music by Citizen Flannel at Marinwood Park, Friday, July 12, 6–8 pm.
12. Design and create a stepping stone (kids 12 & under), Goodman's in Mill Valley, Saturday, July 13, 12:30–2 pm. RSVP required.
