Au pairs and host families find College of Marin an excellent choice!

At College of Marin (COM) we know how important it is for au pairs and host families to find classes that meet their busy schedules, but also their budget! COM can help au pairs find classes that fulfill their program’s education component and provide support in preparing for future study in the United States though the International Education Office.

  1. Affordable classes! COM offers classes that fit a wide range of budgets. The International Education Office often helps au pairs navigate how to get the most out of their $500 education stipend. Community Education classes are affordably-priced and offer a wide range of classes that fit diverse interests. Au pairs are encouraged to choose a variety of classes that meet their interests, as well as their academic and professional goals!

  2. Variety and Flexibility! COM has worked with hundreds of au pairs and we know how busy their days can be! COM offers both day and evening classes including in-person and online options to help fit busy schedules. Community Education offers short-term courses that help au pairs and host family members to explore new hobbies, dive deep into a topic of interest, or get to know each other by enjoying a workshop together!

  3. Learn English! Building confidence in English helps au pairs communicate more effectively with host families, adjust to life in the US, and perhaps continue their studies at COM in the future. COM offers English classes from beginner to advanced including an Intensive English Program for full-time academic study.

  4. Selfcare! Part of staying happy and healthy when living abroad is taking time to care for yourself. Community Education offers classes that help au pairs and host families explore ways to stay physically and mentally healthy with classics such as yoga and creative alternatives like gardening or visual journaling.

  5. Continuing Education at COM! Many au pairs who attend COM return to study full-time English or complete a degree. COM can help au pairs understand the process of transitioning to an international student status as a full-time F-1 student at COM. It’s never too early to plan ahead, so contact international@marin.edu to learn more!
