This winter, local non-profit the Bay Area Creative Foundation (BACF) is sponsoring its second annual Creative Youth Awards program, an initiative for high school students to celebrate and empower young people and fan the sparks of creativity. The Creative Youth Awards is currently accepting creative submissions to include original art, photography, music and films from high school students in Marin, Sonoma, Alameda, Contra Costa, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, and Solano counties. Last year, the BACF awarded a total of more than $17,000 in cash prizes to over 70 student artists! The deadline for submissions is approaching (January 7, 2022), so get your entries ready.

Works in the following artistic and creative disciplines are eligible:

  • Creative writing
  • Film
  • Photography
  • Physical Art
  • Music Composition
  • Music Performance

In addition to the cash rewards, the awards will recognize the students by showcasing their talents at a celebratory Creative Youth Celebration and online gallery. Submissions will be accepted through Tuesday, January 7, 2022. Prizes will be announced at the Creative Youth Celebration in late spring 2022.

Entry is open to teens ages enrolled in high school in the San Francisco Bay Area and students may enroll in multiple categories (one entry per category). To learn more about how to support the awards and to submit an entry, visit bayareacreativefoundation.org.

The Bay Area Creative Foundation was established by Dr. Emil Kakkis to promote creative thinking and expression in high school students. A long-time Bay Area resident and supporter of the arts, Dr. Kakkis hopes to inspire local residents, schools and businesses to support the creative efforts of our local youth.
