Christmas Tree Farms & Lots in Marin and Sonoma County
For many Marin and Bay Area families, the day after Thanksgiving (AKA "Black Friday") isn't the day to shop 'til you drop, but the day to visit a local tree farm or lot to pick out the perfect Christmas tree! For many, there's nothing better than visiting a North Bay Christmas tree farm to cut down your own tree. If playing lumberjack isn't your thing, there are plenty of Christmas tree lots in Marin that offer quality trees for your holiday. Sonoma County Christmas Tree Farms
To get that real Christmas tree farm experience, you're going to have to get in the car and head north on Highway 101 to Sonoma County. Petaluma and Sebastopol are both convenient for Marin families and have many Christmas tree farms to choose from. At many Christmas tree farms you'll also find holiday boutiques and gift shops, farm animals to visit, crafts, and maybe even Santa himself!
Larsen's Christmas Tree Farm, Petaluma

Larsen's is close to downtown Petaluma, and offers Monterey pines, redwoods, cypress, and Douglas firs to cut down, along with pre-cut Noble and Douglas firs. Little Hills Christmas Tree Farm can be found in west Petaluma. This is one of our favorte u-cut locations.They grow choose-and-cut Monterey pines, redwoods, and cypresses, and offer a selection of pre-cut Noble and Douglas firs, as well as flocked trees. Mickelson's Christmas Trees south of Petaluma offers pre-cut Douglas, Noble, Silver Tip, and Nordmann firs. Frosty Mountain Tree Farm grows Douglas firs, Monterey pines, and Sequioa redwoods to choose and cut. You can also go on a tractor-drawn hay ride and visit Santa's Workshop, a large Christmas boutique in an old apple-packing barn. Garlock Tree Farm, Sebastopol

Garlock Tree Farm has been growing trees in Sebastopol since 1966. They can be found in the southern part of Sebastopol. Garlock's grows Douglas and White firs, Monterey and Scotch pines, and redwoods, and has pre-cut Noble firs for sale, too. They also offer free tractor-drawn hay rides through their 10-acre farm and a candy cane bounce house (Friday–Sunday), as well as free coffee, candy canes, and a gift shop with holiday decor, ornaments, and fresh-made wreaths. Growing trees since 1982, Grandma Buddy's offers mostly choose-and-cut Douglas firs, but white and grand firs, Bishop pines, and blue and white spruce are also grown. Reindeer Ridge Christmas Tree Farm is located literally right around the corner from Frosty Mountain Tree Farm. Marin County Christmas Tree Lots
There aren't any cut-it-down-yourself Christmas tree farms in Marin, although there are a number of well known Christmas tree lots where you can pick out that perfect tree and immerse yourself in that holiday spirit. Here are some of our favorite Christmas tree lots (if you have your own favorite you'd like to share with us, let us know).
Cousins' Christmas Trees, Novato

This family-run Christmas tree lot in Novato offers quality Noble, Douglas, and Grand firs, as well as wreaths, garlands, and other holiday products. Cousins' also offers a goat petting zoo and free hot cocoa, cookies, and candy canes. Open daily starting November 26 from 10 am–7 pm. This local family-run company owns its own Christmas tree farms in Oregon and trucks them down to its retail operations in Marin and Sonoma counties starting. We've bought our trees from their large lot on Civic Center Drive, across from Marin Center (3501 Civic Center Drive), several times. They always have a great selection of fresh Noble, Douglas, and Grand firs, as well as ornaments, wreaths, LED tree lights, tree accessories, and holiday decor. Santa Claus often makes an appearance, too. Make sure you pick up one of their commemorative coffee mugs when you buy your tree. Sausalito Farms Christmas Trees

Sausalito Farms is a locally owed Christmas tree lot. They hire local kids, many of whom it's their first job. They donate $20 per tree and $10 per wreath to local schools, sports teams and non-profits. They have Noble, Nordman and Silver Tip trees ranging in size from table tops to 12 feet.
