Chi 4 Children, a new dynamic based on ancient wisdom, is enrolling now for summer sessions conveniently scheduled at the Dailey Method Studios in Corte Madera and Fairfax. Children can enjoy relaxing plus Mom has the option to get in a great workout, all before dinner. Or how about offering this exciting concept for kids at your next party?

Children can have so much energy. But at what point do they learn to constructively and creatively utilize it to benefit their body, mind and spirit? A long-time mom in Marin with decades of experience as a holistic practitioner, Marian Brandenburg wanted to answer that question. Listening to other Marin mothers who longed for more meaningful youth programs, she developed Chi 4 Children to give kids delightful and easy-to-learn tools that provide them with an early awareness of harmony within themselves. Using ancient knowledge backed by scientific study, Chi 4 Children is an hour long, 4 part fusion class aimed for ages 6–12.

Chi 4 Children provides a sampler of basic holistic principles to assist children in achieving a more empowered and happily balanced life, all while having lots of fun learning through creative playtime. Each 15-minute section teaches a primary understanding of four individual modalities by moving them through a series of beneficial exercises.

With a sensitive understanding of children's needs, the class is designed to:

  • Release stress and clear blocked emotions by Singing. Singing is one of the most gratifying ways to express ourselves and release tension, especially after a trying day. It's fantastic for lowering stress as well as helping reduce anger, anxiety, depression and loneliness.
  • Improve flexibility and body awareness through Yoga. Yoga is great at any age! Get them started on the basics and begin gaining all the wonderful benefits. It's been shown to help kids relax, concentrate better, calm the mind and unwind from daily stress. It also provides better body awareness, balance and improves motor skills.
  • Increase and harmonize energy in the body with Qi Gong. Qi Gong is an ancient Chinese practice to help develop our internal energy system. The underlying principles of Martial Arts are based on Qi Gong, as it is the cultivation of this internal power that provides strength and concentration. Qi Gong has been shown to promote more energy, peace of mind, better sleep, improved digestion and more efficient metabolism. It's been known to awaken the brain and activate more creativity and intuition.
  • Experience peaceful awareness and relaxation with Meditative Contemplation.There are many proven benefits to calming the mind, being aware of fully engaging with your breath, and taking the time to stop and clear your thoughts. As well as a stress reducer, it's been found that mediation techniques can help kids relax and focus better, improving their ability to concentrate and memorize more effectively. It also helps to boost confidence and self-esteem.
