Celebrate Halloween with Boo at the Zoo at the Oakland Zoo!
Join the Oakland Zoo this fall for Halloween fun at their annual Boo at the Zoo event! Boo at the Zoo takes place daily from October 1–29, 2023.
Make your way through the 500-bale hay maze, look for clues on the self-guided scavenger hunt to find spooky animal x-rays, and see larger-than-life Halloween decorations! Make sure to grab your guide and an OCHO candy bar on your way into the zoo.
Remember to dress in costume (no inflatable costumes, please — they can scare the animals) when you visit and tag Oakland Zoo on social media to enter their Halloween costume contest. Winners will receive 4 tickets to the zoo's amazing holiday nighttime lantern festival, Glowfari, which takes place from November 10, 2023 through January 28, 2024!
Boo at the Zoo is included with regular zoo admission. All tickets must be reserved in advance online. Timed tickets are on sale 28 days in advance. Since attendance is currently limited, please be aware that you may not be able to secure your first choice of date and time.
Themed costume days include:
- October 1–7: Twinning — Parents suit up! It's time to twin with your mini in your favorite Halloween costumes.
- October 8–14: Monster Squad — Ghouls and monsters of the night, it's your time to shine for a Halloween fright. Dress up in your classic monster squad members.
- October 15–21: Favorite Animal Friends — Furry or scaley, feathers or slimy, it's up to you! Pick your favorite animal to sport around the Zoo.
- October 22–29: Wild Card — Your choice! Dress up as your favorite superhero, princess, pirate — the possibilities are endless! (Except, no inflatable costumes…)
