Our unique curriculum integrates a Montessori philosophy with an Emergent approach to learning, while drawing on research that shows that play is the best facilitator of children’s development. We trust in the power of play, spontaneity, and imagination in the learning of young children. Children are active, not passive, learners who learn best when they are the protagonists of their own education. We follow our students’ lead with intention and curiosity, and develop classroom experiences based on what emerges spontaneously in their play and relationships. All areas of early childhood development — cognitive, language, social, emotional, sensory, and physical — have an important place in the planning and implementation of our program, and are targeted through our classroom materials and activities.
First Friends Preschool provides the foundation for social skills, relational and emotional thinking, problem solving, creativity, language acquisition, literacy skills, and mathematics. This foundation will support children to become confident, active, connected, empathetic, joyful and curious lifelong learners.
