Have a Love2Dance Birthday Party

Do your children love to dance? Most kids do, so why not consider a dance birthday party when that time of the year rolls around. Both of my children (ages 5 and 8) recently went to birthday parties at Novato's Love2Dance dance studio. I attended both parties and have to say both of them were an absolute blast.

While Love2Dance is a serious dance studio—owner Tara-Caprice Broadwater is a former Golden State Warrior dancer with over two decades of dance experience—their birthday parties are for children with little or no dance experience who just want to have fun. Of course if you know how to dance, that makes things even better.

My daughter recently went to a friends fifth birthday there, and the girls danced the afternoon away to a variety of music, including Disney princess movie music, Broadway songs, and current pop offerings. The fun, experienced, and enthusiastic staff started the party with a warm-up, taught the kids a few short dance combinations, helped serve cake, and then led the group in a game of "musical presents"—a sort of musical chairs game with the birthday gifts which everyone really enjoyed. They also led the children in a variety of games like red light/green light, musical chairs, duck duck goose, the hockey pokey, and parachute. Free play time is also included if time allows.

Love2Dance's parties aren't just for little girls, either. My son also recently attended a party there with a co-ed group of second-grade kids. Everyone, both boys and girls had a great time moving to the music on the dance floor. I had a hard time getting my son to leave once it was over!

When you book a party at Love2Dance you can choose from a variety of themes that include Pretty Princess, Disco Diva, Hannah Montana, High School Musical, Hollywood, Hawaiian Hula, and Rockin' Roundup. The Love2Dance provides all themed decorations, tablecloths, plates, napkins, utensils, cups and complimentary party-themed invitations. They have tables that seat up to 20 children in the back of the studio which are perfect for food and cake. The parties that I attended offered both pizza and then cake, which was great since the kids all got really hungry after all that exercise on the dance floor. Parties cost $250 and are two hours in length; you'll need to arrive 15 to 20 minutes prior to start time.

Love2Dance is located in downtown Novato at 874 Sweetser Avenue. To reserve a birthday party at Love2Dance call (415) 898-3933 or visit www.love2dance.biz.

Love2Dance also offers a wide variety of dance classes for children ages 2 and up, including Mommy & Me and Little Feet classes designed especially for young children. Dance styles include hip-hop, Broadway, jazz, classical ballet, tap, acrobatics, and more. They also offer two dance recitals every year at the Marin Veteran's Auditorium.
