It's Sticker Paradise at Mrs. Grossman's Sticker Factory

Mrs. Grossman's Sticker FactoryAnyone who loves stickers, knows about Mrs. Grossman’s Sticker Factory. Located just north of Marin in Petaluma, I’ve been wanting to take my kids on their famous factory tour so we can see how their stickers are made.

This family-owned company is a must-visit place for families in the Bay Area. For $3 per person, you get a guided tour, a goody bag of stickers, and more. Tours are held Monday through Thursday by reservation only. You can give them a call at (800) 429-4549 to schedule a tour. Tours last about an hour.

Angus the dog and mailboxA variety of children were on hand to witness the sticker-making magic, with ages from one on up in attendance. Kicking off the tour is a twenty-minute video narrated by Mrs. Grossman’s dog Angus, the official company mascot. (The whole company actually had a lot of dogs roaming around, being a laid-back kind of place). The tour guide reminded the kids that she’d quiz them on some of the facts presented in the video and give out stickers as prizes for correct answers. This helped keep the attention spans in line!

After the video, we entered the factory itself to watch the sticker-making process. You get to see stickers being printed, packaged, and the cool LaserWeb laser that precisely cuts the more delicate stickers. The LaserWeb is the only one of its kind in the United States.

Mrs. Grossman's Activity RoomThe tour ends in the activity room, where you’re given the aforementioned goody bag (kids and adults alike) filled with stickers and a postcard. The kids had a great time decorating their postcards and were definitely inspired by being around all those stickers. You can “mail” your postcard to Angus the Dog via a mailbox in the craft room. He’s a pretty popular canine, as the mailbox was jam-packed with postcards for him.

Of course Mrs. Grossman runs a business, so the Company Store is naturally located outside the activity room. Tour participants get coupons for $3 off your purchase of $20 or more at the store. You can spend a lot of money if you’re not careful, but you can also pick up bargains like the $1.99 grab bags that contain $10 worth of stickers.

Mrs. Grossman's Company StoreMrs. Grossman’s is definitely worth the trip and the price of admission, and my kids are still playing with their stickers. The factory is located in Petaluma at 3810 Cypress Drive, at the corner off of South McDowell Boulevard. To get there, take Highway 101 north to the Sonoma/Napa East 116 exit. Turn left onto Lakeville Highway, then turn right onto South McDowell Boulevard after about a mile. Follow South McDowell and look for the Mrs. Grossman’s sign.
