Music Classes and Parties with Ali Weiss and Mini Music

Still looking for a great music class for your little one? Check out the offerings from Mini Music, run by local singer/songwriter Ali Weiss. Ali teaches interactive music classes for children ages 0–5 at locations throughout Marin County—including Mill Valley and San Rafael—and in Petaluma and Sebastopol.

Children attend classes with a parent or caregiver and receive a CD at the beginning of the ten-week session. Over the length of the session participants learn all the songs on the CD and explore them through singing, movement, and instrument play accompanied by both live and recorded music. The CD, produced by Ali and featuring her and various other musicians, includes mostly traditional, as well as some modern children's songs, and original material.

Ali also offers musical birthday parties for children. Each party session lasts approximately 40 minutes, and includes interactive songs, dancing, and a jam session where everyone at the party finds an instrument to play from the assortment provided. Of course, a final chorus of Happy Birthday for the birthday child is included, too. All instruments, props, and music are included—you just provide the space.

Ali is a singer/songwriter who, after teaching through the Music Together program for several years, recently started her own program: Mini Music. Since its start, the Mini Music program has grown to include 140 families! She also teaches private guitar, voice, and piano lessons to both children and adults, and has her own band that performs original music. Registration is currently open for the spring session of Mini Music, which starts on April 11, 2011.
