Family Fun at America's Cup Park in San Francisco

America's CupThis summer, San Francisco plays host to one of the worlds largest sporting events: the America's Cup races! While high-tech sailboats battle it out on the Bay, local families can take advantage of the fun scheduled at America's Cup Park at Piers 27 and 29.

Throughout the month of August, families can enjoy free outdoor movie screenings at America's Cup Park. This Wednesday, August 14, they'll be showing Shark Tale, on Wednesday, August 21 Pirates of the Caribbean, and on Tuesday, August 27 Jaws (with a special introduction by production designer Joe Alves). All movie screenings start at 6:30 pm, and there are plenty of bean bag chairs on the Plaza where you can snuggle up to take in the show! Snacks, ice cream, and beverages will be available for sale.

Other America's Cup activities include daily kids' tours at America's Cup Park. These tours are interactive events that help families learn about sailing and the America's Cup races. Tours include stops at the Kids Zone, the Center of Sailing Simulator, and the Flying on Water Cinema Experience. Kids can also compete in a "blow boat" racing competition, participate in trivia and learning activities, and more. On race days, poster signings will take place, too. Best of all, tours are free!

America's Cup Park is open every day from 10 am to 7 pm. Kids' tours begin at 1:30 pm. Piers 27/29 are located on the Embarcadero between Chestnut and Lombard Streets. To learn more about activities at America's Cup Park and the America's Cup races, visit www.americascup.com.
