Children's Theatre Association Presents "James and the Giant Peach"

James and the Giant Peach Illustration

Children’s Theatre Association of San Francisco (CTA) presents a musucak version of Roald Dahl's James and the Giant Peach live on stage at the Presidio Theatre in San Francisco, in January, February, and March 2025. When James is sent by his conniving aunts to chop down their old fruit tree, he discovers a magic potion that creates a tremendous peach, launching him on a journey of enormous proportions. Inside the giant peach, James meets human-sized insects with equally oversized personalities. Together, they embark on an adventure after the peach rolls into the ocean, facing challenges like hunger, sharks, and plenty of disagreements. Thanks to James’ quick wit and creativity, the group learns to work together, forming a close-knit, unconventional family. Their dangerous voyage culminates when they spot the Empire State Building, marking the end of one journey and the beginning of lifelong friendships.

This one-hour musical is perfect for elementary-school-aged children or younger kids who can sit through a one-hour show. After the show, performers will come out in costume to greet you, give autographs, and be available for photo ops.

There will be 8 public performances, (5 on Saturdays and 3 on Sundays) from January 26 through March 1. These weekend performances help support CTA's mission of bringing the magic of live theatre to Bay Area schoolchildren who may not otherwise be able to attend. CTA will entertain over 6,400 school children this year at no cost. They are an all-volunteer non-profit organization active for nearly 90 years and always looking for new members!

Shows take place at the Presidio Theatre, located at 99 Moraga Avenue in San Francisco's Presidio. Tickets cost $15 for youth under 18 and $20 for adults (plus a $4 per ticket fee if ordered online). Groups of 10 or more can get tickets at a 15% discount. For tickets and more information visit www.ctasf.org or call (415) 248-2677.
