U-Pick Organic Strawberries at Blue Marble Acres in West Marin
One of the best things about this time of year is the abundance of locally grown strawberries, and the difference between the ones fresh-picked from the garden and the kind you get in the supermarket is huge! You and your family can experience the difference by picking your own strawberries, and you can do it right here in Marin at Blue Marble Acres! Their strawberry u-pick takes place on weekends from 10 am to 2 pm and the fruit is amazing!
Blue Marble Acres is a community-centered, regenerative, organic farm located just west of Novato along Point Reyes–Petaluma Road. They grow a variety of seasonal produce that that they sell on-site at their farm stand, along with eggs from their resident chickens. (The farm stand is always worth a visit, especially in the summer at peak growing season.)
For strawberry u-pick, check in at the farm stand and pick up your baskets, then head out into the fields. They grow four different kinds of strawberries here, each with its own subtly unique flavor, and Blue Marble Acres staff are happy to point out which ones are growing where. (It's okay to sample some to see which variety is your favorite!) It's a lot of fun to seek out perfectly ripe strawberries to fill your basket with, and the plants grow close to the ground so they're easy for little fingers to pick.
When you're done, head back to the farm stand to check out. U-pick strawberries cost $5.99 per pound and there's a $7 u-pick fee. You can also buy baskets of strawberries at the stand for $5 each. We also picked up some lettuce, leeks, kale, and broccoli on our last visit, too. Overall, it's an awesome experience, and the aroma of fresh sweet strawberries will fill the car on your ride home. (Make sure you wash them before you eat them, though.)

Strawberry u-pick takes place on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 am to 2 pm. It's probably a good idea to check their Instagram for up-to-date details and hours, since sometimes they get picked out. Cash, cards, and electronic payments are accepted.
Blue Marble Acres is located in West Marin at 6901 Point Reyes–Petaluma Road, Petaluma CA 94952; while the address says Petaluma it's actually in Marin County west of Novato and not far from the Marin French Cheese Company. To get there from Marin, take Highway 101 to the San Marin Drive exit and head west on San Marin Drive. Turn right on Novato Boulevard and follow it about 6 miles west until you get the the intersection of Point Reyes–Petaluma Road, where you'll turn right. Blue Marble Acres is on your right after half a mile.
