Pelo Fitness: Marin’s Hidden Fitness Gem

Marin Mommies presents a sponsored article from Pelo Fitness in San Rafael.
Did you know that there’s a fitness revolution happening just past the Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s in San Rafael? Pelo Fitness opened its doors just three years ago and has been quietly building a reputation as the best studio cycling (spin) class anywhere. Add in body weight strength training and a soon to be launched nutrition program and you have a complete fitness method under one roof.
Founded by San Rafael dad and avid cyclist Alan Roberts, Pelo is a complete program designed to build a lean, strong, healthy body and to help you to feel great.
“Our classes are a ton of fun, with great music and awesome instructors, but they’re built on a solid foundation of real exercise physiology,” says Roberts. “Pelo customers are pretty discerning and tend to be looking for more than a dance party on a bike… although we have been known to do a little dancing off the bike.”
Sign up for your first class. It’s on us.
What makes the Pelo cycling class totally unique is their proprietary Power Zones system. There’s nothing more demoralizing than trying to keep up with that incredibly fit triathlete riding next to you, so the Power Zones system calibrates each rider’s effort to their individual fitness level and then workout data is recorded on the pelofitness.com website so you can track your progress. No other studio in the world has this system.
Pelo Strength is the perfect compliment to Pelo Cycling classes. Utilizing the TRX suspension training system, the workout leverages body weight and gravity to develop strength, balance and flexibility. Pelo Strength is also adjustable to individual fitness levels simply by changing body position.
Coming soon, Pelo Nutrition will provide knowledge and guidance on how to eat tasty and healthy foods with individualized programs to restore immune system health and ongoing, nutrition for life plans.
So what’s the revolution? According to Roberts, “we’ve been bombarded with bad information and bad food for our entire lives. Now it’s time for a fitness revolution. Eating right and getting fit is not that hard and it just feels great. At Pelo we’re trying to put it all together for people and make it simple.”
Pelo is at 171 Third Street in San Rafael. Their phone is (415) 459-7356 and their website is www.pelofitness.com.
