Visit California State Parks This Summer with a Free Historian Passport!

Hit the road and explore California's incredible state parks for free this summer (and for the rest of the year)! In honor of the Juneteenth holiday, the State of California has made their Historian Passport Annual Pass available for free. This offer is only good through Monday, July 6, 2026, but once you've gotten your pass you're free to use it to keep exploring state parks through December 31, 2026.
To get your pass, visit reservecalifornia.com and ether login or sign up to create a new account. Choose the "Special Edition Historian Passport" and go through the checkout process and then download your pass; you'll be sent a copy via email, too. Each pass is provides free entry for up to four people at parks that charge per-person fees or free day-use for one vehicle at those that charge a vehicle day-use fee. Present the passport upon entry or leave it on your vehicle dashboard if there's no attendant present.

The Historian Passport, as the name implies, offers admission to over 30 parks that focus on the history of California. Participating parks include:
