Keep the little ones busy this fall! We've put together a list of 15 awesome autumn activities and outings in Marin, the San Francisco Bay Area, and beyond specially selected for families with kids 5 and under. From visiting a pumpkin patch to taking a train ride, there's something here for everyone.

  1. Visit Half Moon Bay for Fall fun at Lemos Farm and Farmer John's Pumpkin Farm
  2. Pick organic apples and visit the farm animals at Chileno Valley Ranch in Petaluma.
  3. Pick the perfect pumpkin and visit the farm animals at Petaluma Pumpkin Patch opening on September 25.
  4. Head to Mickelson Pumpkin Patch in Petaluma for pumpkins, a train ride, bounce houses, and more. Opens September 19.
  5. Muelrath Ranches in Santa Rosa offers pumpkins, hay rides, toddlers' corn maze, and more. Open daily starting September 26.
  6. Marinwood's Halloween Harvest Festival features face painting, pumpkin decorating, games, and a bounce house, Friday, October 9, 5–6:30 pm.
  7. Take the kiddos on a Sonoma County fall farm tour at Weekend Along the Farm Trails, Saturday & Sunday, September 26 & 27, 10 am–4 pm.
  8. Dress up for Halloween with favorites Thomas and Percy for a 20-minute train ride at Roaring Camp Railroad, weekend, October 11–25.
  9. Celebrate Halloween at the Bay Area Discovery Museum's Goblin Jamboree, weekends, October 3–31.
  10. Experience life on the farm at one of Slide Ranch's Family Farm Days, September 26, October 17, November 7 & 14
  11. Halloween Jam is Fairyland's most famous, most festive, most fantastic fall celebration for the little ones at Children's Fairyland, Oakland, October 24–26 and 31.
  12. Goblins' BOOtacular is a fun, town-wide trick or treating event for those ages 11 and under in downtown San Anselmo, Friday, October 24, 5–7 pm.
  13. Dress in costume to Trunk or Treat and enjoy music and crafts at Mill Valley Community Center, Friday, October 30, 4–6 pm.
  14. Meet creepy crawlies in the Insect Zoo, participate in a costume contest, and collect trading cards at Boo at the Zoo at the Oakland Zoo, October 17, 18, 24, 25, 31 & November 1, 11 am–3 pm.
  15. Halloween fun for the entire family in Sausalito with a parade, trick-or-treat, dog costume contest, and more. October 31, 5–7:30 pm.
