The Easiest Homemade Fudge Ever

fudge on a plate

Every holiday season we love to make cookies and candy to share with friends and family, and this delicious chocolate fudge is always included. It looks — and tastes — impressive but really requires minimal effort. There are only three basic ingredients, and you don't even need to turn on the stove! (The secret ingredient is sweetened condensed milk.)

I like to stir in chopped walnuts, and you can also give it a holiday flair by sprinkling the top of the fudge with crushed candy canes.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 14-ounce can sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Directions

Line a glass or metal 8x8- or 9x9-inch pan with parchment paper or waxed paper.

Combine chocolate chips, condensed milk, and butter in a large bowl. Put bowl in the microwave and heat on high for 90 seconds. The chocolate should be melty, but if it's not feel free to heat it for another 20 or 30 seconds. Stir with a wooden spoon until thoroughly combined. Mix in the nuts, if using, and pour into the prepared pan. If you're using crushed candy canes instead, you can sprinkle them on now.

Let sit at room temperature for at least three hours until fudge solidifies. (If it's still not solid enough you can put it in the refrigerator for 15–30 minutes.) Lift fudge from pan, trim edges, and cut into neat cubes.
