DIY and Recycled Halloween Costume Resources

This guest article is from Lexie Fox, a high school junior in Marin who is currently working on her Girl Scout Gold Award project educating the community about how to fight against fast fashion waste. Making or assembling your own Halloween costume is fun, economical, and environmentally responsible. Keep that used costume out of the landfill — after all, most costumes get used only once — and get a gently used one from a local thrift store or make your own with thrifted materials and fabric, especially if you have sewing skills. Not handy with a sewing machine or needle and thread? You can still get a lot done with a hot glue gun!

Here's a guide to Marin thrift stores and other resources for DIY or recycled costumes.
