Halloween Pumpkin Patches in Brentwood
The Contra Costa County town of Brentwood is renowned in the Bay Area for its spring and summer fruit u-pick, but it's also a Halloween-season hot spot in October, with a number of amazing pumpkin patches that offer fun for the whole family.
We took a trip out to Brentwood and checked out Smith Family Farm and Three Nunns Farm and had an amazing time visiting both! There's a lot to do at both these farms and there's plenty of fun autumn atmosphere to take in so they're both worth a visit in October.
Smith Family Farm
Smith Family Farm comes alive in the fall with a huge pumpkin patch and countless other autumn attractions. This place is amazing and there's a lot to take in. Meet some farm animals, see honeybees at work, pick some herbs in the herb garden, visit the farm store, enjoy some live music, and more.
General admission is $15 and is a fantastic deal, because it includes almost everything, including a pumpkin! Explore the pumpkin patch, where you can pick out any size and variety of pumpkin you can find — and they have numerous different kinds growing here. The admission price includes one pumpkin, but you can buy more at the farm stand out in front. Food trucks and vendors are available on weekends, and you can buy snacks like ice cream and popcorn and drinks in the farm store. Prices are really reasonable, too!
You can literally spend hours here soaking up the country atmosphere and enjoying the harvest time fun. It's a great place for a fall family photo op, too. During our visit, a band was playing bluegrass music and artisans were selling their fall and Halloween crafts at booths throughout the farm. We almost didn't want to leave!

Smith Family Farm is open daily from 9 am to 5 pm, and the farm stand stays open offering fall produce through Thanksgiving. Last entry is at 4:30 pm.
General admission is $15 and includes all attractions plus a pumpkin of any size and variety from their pumpkin patch. Additional pumpkins may be purchased at their farm stand. Parking is free. Snacks and drinks are available at the snack shack and food trucks are usually available on weekends. Only cash and checks accepted.

Three Nunns Farm
Three Nunns Farm and its Fall Harvest Festival, operated by a fifth-generation local farming family, is another must-visit Halloween destination in Brentwood. Hop on board a wagon for the mile-long tractor ride through the fields to their pumpkin patch. Tractor ride admission ($15 per person, $12 for military and seniors 65+, free for kids under 2) includes any pumpkin from the pumpkin field up to 5 pounds in weight. The offer 40 varieties of pumpkins and winter squash!
The pumpkin patch here is humungous and it's filled with squash of all shapes, sizes and colors. You'll also find hay pyramids to climb scattered around and a cool two-story play house based on a historic 1850s mansion in Brentwood. You can grab a wheelbarrow or wagon to haul your pumpkins back to the car.
Other attractions include the Corn Coaster, a roller coast that winds its way though a corn field, the Strawberry Go Round ride, a corn maze, melon cannons, slides, and more. The rides and melon cannons require tickets ($4 each) but everything else is included.

Tractor rides ($15) are required to get access to the pumpkin patch; the price includes 5 pound pumpkin credit; pumpkins cost $.75 per pound. Tickets for rides and attractions like the Corn Coaster cost $4 each. Parking is free.
