- Take a family hike and look for newts at Lake Lagunitas in Fairfax.

- Learn all about the elephant seals who winter at Drakes Beach in Point Reyes National Seashore, Saturday & Sunday, 12:30 & 2:30 pm.
Friday, February 14
- Join the Cal Academy in Golden Gate Park for its annual Penguin Valentines tradition, Friday, 10:30 am & 3 pm.
- Bring your baby or toddler to Sing and Stomp with musician Emily Bonn at the San Anselmo Library, Friday, 10:30–11 am.
- Create shell art for Valentine's Day at the Stinson Beach Library, Friday, 11 am–noon.
Get up close and personal with newts at the UC Botanical Garden in Berkeley on Sunday.
Saturday, February 15
- Shop for fresh produce and locally made foods and enjoy live entertainment at the Marin Country Mart Farmers' Market, Saturday, 9 am–2 pm.
- Join WildCare to celebrate the grand opening of their new Ambassador Zone in San Rafael, Saturday, 10 am–3 pm.
- The Chinatown Community Street Fair offers shopping, entertainment, activities, and more for Lunar New Year, Saturday, 10 am–4:30 pm.
- The Endless End uses film, shadow puppets, animation, and soundscapes to explore species and ecosystems at Marin Theatre in Mill Valley, Saturday, 11 am.
- Explore Kreole culture and Zydeco music with accordion maestro Andre Thierry at Fairfax Library, Saturday, 11 am–noon.
- Join Marin Parks rangers to make a winter wonderland glowing lantern craft at McNears Beach in San Rafael, Saturday, 12:30–2:30 pm.
- Meet at the Marin City Library parking lot to help count migrating birds with experts from the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy, Saturday, 1–2 pm.
- Celebrate the month of love with hands-on crafts at the Love and Peanuts Holiday Workshop for kids in grades 1–6, Saturday, 1–3 pm.
- Welcome the Year of the Snake at San Francisco's renowned Chinese New Year Parade, Saturday, 5:15–8 pm.
