Fall Textile Arts Classes for Kids at Mimi the Sardine

Mimi the Sardine classesMimi the Sardine, the Marin manufacturer of lunch bags, bibs, spillmats, tablecloths, and other eco-friendly and stylish Swedish textiles for kids and families, also offers a series of textile arts classes for kids this fall at their Corte Madera retail store and classroom.

Kids will find a creative classroom filled with colorful yarns, fabric, buttons, and more, and they'll learn to sew by hand and with sewing machines, embroider, and decorate textiles, and they'll create great projects like pillows, messenger bags, pajama pants, dolls, doll clothes and more. Kids will even learn applied math and language skills as they work, without even knowing it!

Mimi the Sardine owner Pia Andersson holds a MA in textile arts from the University of Gothenburg, and has decades of teaching experience both in Sweden and the United States.

Mimi the Sardine's classes are for ages 5 to 12, and include kindergarten fiber arts classes for kids ages 5 and 6; basic hand-sewing, embroidery, and feltmaking for ages 7 to 9; and machine sewing for ages 10 to 12. Fees range from $100 to $225, depending on the class, and classes begin September 9 and run through November.

Class participants receive a 10% discount in the Mimi the Sardine store, and students who sign up for two class sessions in the fall will recevie a $25 Mimi the Sardine gift certificate. See the schedule of courses and register online at www.mimithesardine.com. You can call them at (415) 924-2222.

Mimi the Sardine's store and classroom are located at 305 Montecito Avenue, suite A, near Old Corte Madera Square, in Corte Madera. The store is open from 10 am to 5:30 pm. You can also find them at the Marin Civic Center Farmers Market on Thursday mornings.
