Ride the Thrill on the New Skunk Train Railcoaster Railbikes

Marin Mommies presents a sponsored article from the Skunk Train, whose all-new Railcoaster Railbike adventure through the redwoods debuts May 16.
Pedal off, lean back, and hold on — the Skunk Train in Willits is getting a whole new way to experience the rails this May! Known as the Railcoaster, this multi-hour Railbike adventure blends motion, scenery, and exploration into one unforgettable journey through the redwoods.
Riders travel approximately 15 miles roundtrip through a remote stretch of the Noyo River Canyon, cruising on electric-assisted Railbikes that let each guest ride at their own pace. The route winds through elevated terrain, climbs and descends steep grades, and delivers a roller coaster-like sensation as it twists through one of the most rugged and scenic corridors on the Skunk Train line.
At the heart of the Railcoaster journey, riders enter the 1,100-foot Summit Tunnel, a dramatic passage that opens into towering redwoods, before arriving at a serene clearing to rest and take in the surrounding beauty. A picnic lunch is included and enjoyed as part of the experience, along with a souvenir T-shirt to commemorate the ride.
Designed to be both thrilling and accessible, the Railcoaster’s electric-assist technology ensures riders don’t have to pedal continuously, making the journey approachable for a wide range of abilities.
“This route is unlike anything else we offer,” said Efstathios Pappas, General Manager of the Skunk Train. “We believe this Railbike experience is unlike any other in the world.” The Railcoaster is scheduled to open to the public on Saturday, May 16, with departures running Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays through the spring and fall seasons.
From the first pedal to its final stretch, the Skunk Train Railcoaster is built to thrill and leave you craving your next adventure, right off Highway 101.
