Unleash Your Inner Scientist at the Bay Area Science Festival

The Bay Area Science Festival is back for in-person events in 2022! This popular celebration of science takes place April 21–30, 2022, and presents science and technology activities at locations throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. Programs include Discovery Days for families, held in conjunction with local science outreach groups, Explorer Tours that highlight the scientific wonders of the Bay Area, and more. More event information will be releases in early April.

The highlight of the Bay Area Science Festival is the huge Discovery Day at Oracle Park in San Francisco, which takes place Sunday, April 24, from 11 am to 4 pm. The entire ballpark will be packed with exciting science content, hands-on activities, opportunities to me local scientists and engineers, and fun family entertainment. Discovery Day is free — no tickets required — and is suitable for families with kids of all ages. An additional Discovery Day will take place on Saturday, April 30 at Cal State East Bay's campus in Hayward.

Explorer Tours are behind-the-scenes tours that highlight the scientific wonders of the Bay Area. Explore a local park with a naturalist, get a glimpse inside a high-tech lab, help restore local wetlands, and more. Explorer tours are free and will be a mix of in-person and virtual events. More details and a schedule will be released soon.

The Bay Area Science Festival is produced by the Science & Health Education Partnership (SEP) at UCSF in collaboration with Bay Area universities, museums, cultural institutions, corporations, after-school groups, research labs, government agencies and more.
