Keep the kiddos busy! Here's out list of fun things to do with the kids for the week of August 9–15. We've broken it down day-by-day with suggestions for activities, outings, events, and more that you can use to help plan out your week.
Keep in mind that some of these activities require advance registration, so check the organizer's website before you attend. If you have something fun you'd like to share, please let us know and we'll consider it for next week's list!
Monday, August 9
- Make a batch of delicious banana, walnut and chocolate chip muffins.
- Make your own slime! Pick up your slime kit beginning Monday, August 9 while supplies last. Belvedere Tiburon Library
- Explore the bunkers, beaches and awesome views at the Marin Headlands in Sausalito.
Tuesday, August 10
- Admission is free for all at the San Francisco Botanical Garden in Golden Gate Park. 7:30 am–6 pm.
- Take a ride at Sonoma TrainTown where you can feed the animals and ride carnival rides, too.
- Shop for fresh produce, picnic and enjoy the live music at Tuesday's Downtown Sonoma Square Farmer's Market, 5–8 pm.
Wednesday, August 11
- Take the kids to become Junior Rangers at Muir Woods National Monument. Open daily, 8 am–6 pm; reservations required.
- Join Miss Theresa on Instagram Live for a storytime from the Larkspur Library. Wednesday and Friday, 10:30 am
- Play in the sand or bubble garden at the Bay Area Discovery Museum. Wednesday–Sunday, 9 am–4 pm.
Take a family hike to the ocean on the Tennessee Valley Trail.
Thursday, August 12
- Take a hike to the ocean on the Tennessee Valley Trail near Mill Valley.
- Visit WildCare's Animal Ambassadors in their courtyard. Open Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, 10 am–2 pm
- Make a delicious caprese salad with your fresh summer tomatoes and basil.
- Enjoy the folk and bluegrass group Brotherly Mud for Summer Concerts in the Garden, Marin Art and Garden Center, Thursday, 5 pm. Get your ticketes here.
Friday, August 13
- Make a fresh batch of strawberry lemonade.
- Visit Marin Country Mart in Larkspur for Movie Nights at the Mart: Ratatouille, 6 pm.
- Grab your low chairs or blankets as the free Jazz and Blues by the Bay presents Daniel Castro at Gabrielson Park in Sausalito. 6:30 pm
- Take a "Road Trip" with Transcendence Theatre Company at Jack London State Historic Park. Friday–Sunday, 7:30 pm
Visit the Morgan Horse Ranch in Point Reyes.
Saturday, August 14
- Visit the Morgan horses in Bear Valley at Point Reyes National Seashore. Open daily.
- Experience Shakespeare's Twelfth Night in Old Mill Park with a free performance from the Curtain Theatre. Saturday & Sunday, 2 pm
- The Lark Drive In screens Disney's Beauty and the Beast at the Village in Corte Madera. 8:30 pm
Sunday, August 15
- Shop for fresh produce at Sunday's Civic Center Marin Farmers Market, 8 am–1 pm.
- Grab lunch at a food truck at the Marin Country Mart, Larkspur Landing, Sunday, 11 am–3 pm.
- Enjoy a free live concert at Corte Madera's Piccolo Pavilion with Soul Mechanix featuring Omega Rae. 5–6:30 pm
- Watch a 20th-anniversary screening of Shrek outdoors at the Mill Valley Community Center. 8:15 pm
