Memorial Fund for Novato's Osheroff Family

By now you probably all know about the tragic event that occured in Novato on Wednesday, where 9-year-old Melody Osheroff and her father, Aaron Osheroff were hit by a drunk motorcyclist while in a crosswalk on San Marin Drive. Unfortunately, Melody succumbed to her injuries on Thursday, and her father is stil in serious condition after having a leg amputated at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.

The motorcyclist who hit them apparently has six prior DUI convictions. He's in Marin General with moderate injuries, but due to be booked into the county jail soon with bail set at $1.5 million. Due to the DUI aspect of the case the Marin County DA will apparently charge him with murder, as well as gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, causing injury while driving under the influence, and mayhem.

This incident has hit close to home for all of us in Novato. Our hearts go out to the Osheroffs and to Melody's friends and fellow students at San Ramon Elementary School.
