Here's our weekly list of 15 fun things to do with the kids this week, February 1–7. From Valentine's Day craft ideas and recipes to family yoga and an amazing lantern festival, there's something for everyone.

Keep in mind that many of these activities require advance registration, so check the organizer's website before you attend. If you have something fun you'd like to share, please let us know and we'll consider it for next week's list!

  1. Our picks for 12 cute Valentine's Day books to read aloud with the kids.
  2. Learn about parents and pup at Marine Mammal Monday from the Marine Mammal Center. Monday, 4 pm.
  3. Make a batch of Valentine's Day sugar cookies.
  4. Sing songs, learn rhymes, and listen to stories with Belvedere Tiburon Library's Alicia! Monday mornings.
  5. Create these fun decorative paper lanterns to celebrate the Year of the Ox.
  6. Make some longevity noodles for Chinese New Year.
  7. Take a easy family waterfall hike to Cascade Falls in Mill Valley.
  8. See the Smithsonian's National Zoo's Asian elephants — inside the Community Center and outside in their yards.

  10. Drop-in for Music Time with Megan, Wednesday–Friday, various locations throughout Marin.
  11. Learn how to draw Phoebe and her Unicorn.
  12. Follow along as Sophia Khan leads a fun and family-friendly introduction to yoga. Warm up, practice breathing and poses, and relax into a power down.
  13. Play and learn outside at the Bay Area Discovery Museum. Wednesday–Sunday, 10 am–4 pm.
  14. Make a beautiful Valentine's Day tissue wreath for your house.
