15 Fun Activities to do With the Kids this Week, February 8–14

The San Francisco Zoo is now open. Advance reservations are required, so reserve your tickets now.

Here's our weekly list of 15 fun things to do with the kids this week, February 8–14. From recipes and craft project ideas to a trip to the zoo and a virtual trip tour of outer space, there's something for everyone.

Keep in mind that many of these activities require advance registration, so check the organizer's website before you attend. If you have something fun you'd like to share, please let us know and we'll consider it for next week's list!

  1. Get creative with make your own pink and red Valentine's playdough.
  2. Explore and hike at Rush Creek Open Space Preserve in Novato.
  3. Visit Monterey Bay Aquarium's cool sea otter cam with live narrated feedings daily at 1:30 pm.
  4. Celebrate Lunar New Year with a Grab & Go Activity Bag (ages 3–10) at the Mill Valley Library.
  5. Make a batch of these sweet treats — Valentine M&M cookies.
  6. Make your reservations for a day out at the San Francisco Zoo. Open daily, 10 am–5 pm.
  7. Celebrate the Year of the Ox by making some homemade wontons.
  8. Storytime with Ms. Teresa! Watch on Facebook Live, Wednesdays & Fridays, 11:30 am.
  9. Drop-in for Music Time with Megan, Wednesday–Friday, various locations throughout Marin.
  10. Celebrate Valentine's Day with Peanuts gang and the Charles M. Schulz Museum. Thursday, 4–5 pm.
  11. Take a Virtual Tour of Outer Space with the Cal Academy's Morrison Planetarium
  12. Celebrate Black History Month with "Diaspora Dance" from the Marin County Free Library. Saturday, 10:30 am
  13. Visit the animals and hike at Tolay Lake Regional Park in Petaluma.
  14. Mulan’s Lunar New Year virtual storytime with Author Natasha Yim, The Walt Disney Family Museum, Saturday, 11 am.
  15. Get fresh produce at this Sunday's Marin Farmers Market in San Rafael, 8 am–1 pm.
