Monday, January 3
- Take a fun family waterfall hike to the Fairway Waterfall in Novato.
- Make a batch of delicious banana, walnut and chocolate chip muffins.
- Make a pot of delicious slow cooker chicken tortilla soup.
Tuesday, January 4
- Visit the de Young or Legion of Honor museums for free on the first Tuesday of the month.
- Explore the ice and snow with science crafts and more with the Cal Academy.
- Reserve your spot at The Gravity Vault Marin indoor rock climbing gym in San Rafael, open daily, 9am.
Climb and explore Gumnut Grove at the Bay Area Discovey Museum in Sausalito. Reserve your tickets now.
Wednesday, January 5
- Visit the Bay Area Discovery Museum for free (advance reservations required), Wednesday, 9:30 am–4 pm.
- Sing along children's entertainer Megan Schoenbohm at Sports Basement, Novato, 11:30 am.
- Bring a blanket and join Mill Valley Librarian Lauren for outdoor storytime and songs, Wednesdays at 10:15 am, Amphitheater stage behind the Library.
- Learn how to skate at the holiday Parent and Puppy Practice, Snoopy's Home Ice, Santa Rosa, Wednesdays, 10:30 am–noon. Cost: Adults $11, child $9.
Thursday, January 6
- Shop for fresh produce and locally produced food at the Thursday Marin Civic Center farmers' market, 8 am–1 pm
- Sign up for a Jumping Jacks indoor play class at the San Rafael Community Center, Thursday, 9:30-10:30 am (for children crawling to 26 months) and 11 am–noon (for children 26 months to 4 years).
- Marvel at the Rombeiros' Christmas House in Novato before it goes dark for the season, Thursday, 6–10 pm.
Whale watching at the Point Reyes Lighthouse, open weekends
Friday, January 7
- Join Iris for outdoor storytime at the Fairfax Library, Friday, 10–10:45 am.
- Learn 10 cool things about sharks online with the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
- Visit the Oakland Zoo at night for Glowfari, open daily through January 30, 5:30–10 pm.
Saturday & Sunday, January 8 & 9
- Head to the Point Reyes Lighthouse for winter whale watching.
- Drop the kiddos (ages 6–13) off to burn off some energy at Cal Star Gymnastics' power play in Novato, Saturday, 5:30–8:30 pm
- Get fresh produce at this Sunday's Marin Farmers Market in San Rafael, Sunday, 8 am–1 pm.
- Browse for treasures at the New Year's edition of the outdoor French Outdoor Antique Market at Marin Center, Sunday, 9 am–3 pm
- Learn to skate at McInnis Park in San Rafael, Sunday, 11 am.
- Take a tour of historic McNears Beach Park in San Rafael, Sunday, 1 pm.
